ABOUT:

Mims Hughes Wright grew up in Jackson, MS and later Boulder, CO. He studied art, design, and photography as an undergraduate at Savannah College of Art and Design and later moved back to Boulder to study interactive design at the University of Colorado--where he also was a teaching assistant in the BLURR program a digital innovation lab at CU.

During his studies he began experimenting with illustration, photography, and flash design. These projects acted as a terrific learning tool and showed design success. In Summer 2002, he moved to New York, for a web design position with OmniCom’s Live Technology. After only three months, another strategic partner of OmniCom, Organic asked Mims to join their team as a contributor of integrated media, where he took on more than the title, dipping his hands into work as diverse as action script development and acted as junior designer.

After only six months at Organic, Mims was awarded “The Most Utilized Employee Award” and began quickly integrating his skills further into each project. After his time with Organic, Mims decided to start freelancing and focusing on his own creative projects.

His belief is that all projects should be a collaboration with the client and/or partners to encourage dialogue, to establish forward thinking ideas, and to form communication that engages the eye and mind with a distinct message. He looks to understand the client and their message, whether the project is a full on website or a simple party invitation.

Mims lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and continues to allow design to encompass his days.

His Flash development blog can be read at blog.mimswright.com.
